General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
'Amoebiasis' is caused by protozoan parasite organism called 'entamoeba histolytica'. It causes internal inflammation of large intestine.

Amoebiasis is a 100% treatable disease by use of specific antibiotics such as metronidazole.

Although the organism gets eliminated by the use of antibiotics, it takes few more days for the mucosal inflammation to heal. Hence, you may encounter blood in stools in some instances. Gradually, even that will subside. Kindly keep the baby well fed and hydrated.

Hope the information provided is clear.
All the best.
