Hi,
There is no clear evidence to suggest that
pantoprazole and itopride can cause polyps in the stomach. However, it is important to note that
chronic gastritis and GERD can increase the risk of developing stomach polyps, especially in patients who have had these conditions for a long time. The use of certain medications, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), may also increase the risk of developing stomach polyps.
Bloody stool and mucus in the stool can be a sign of inflammation or injury in the digestive tract, and it is important to seek medical attention if these symptoms occur. Inflammation of the rectum can cause bleeding and mucus in the stool, and antibiotics such as
metronidazole are often prescribed to treat this condition.
Bloating, belching, nausea,
chest pain, and
difficulty breathing are common symptoms of GERD, and
weight loss can be a sign of chronic inflammation in the digestive tract. Multiple polyps in the stomach can increase the risk of
stomach cancer, although most polyps are benign.
It is important to discuss your symptoms and treatment options with your doctor, as well as any concerns about the use of medication and the potential risks of developing stomach polyps. Your doctor may recommend further testing, such as a biopsy of the polyps or additional imaging tests, to evaluate the extent of the polyps and determine the appropriate treatment plan.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
