What Causes Blood In Motion?

I am Vijaya kumar from chennai.I get blood in my motion at periodic intervals,ie. i will get blood in the motion for two three days in a month.This problem is thee for me for the last 20 years.The colour of the motion during this period will be dard red.There is no pain during this period. Of late i get bloated tummy.I am worried.Can any one advise me what i should do.I am 54 years old.

As you mentioned you have problem of blood in stool that may be because of ulcerative colitis or diverticular disease or hemorroid or other reasons.
Intestinal polyp also cause blood in stool...

Consult a gastroenterologist for further diagnosis.
Detail history and investigation give exact idea about problems..
Colonoscopy examination can done for further diagnosis.
