What Causes Blood In Ears While Cleaning?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here..Good evening ! I am really concern about my child right now.He is 6 years old.I bathed him and I use a cotton swab to clean his ear.He stood up ,beside me,with his head sticked on my chest(my breast).But I don't know what happened, he stung my breast ( I felt like sting )and in the same time he moved, or he scared me with the sting and I moved , I don't know; but my swab was pushing further in the ear ( I suppose )without my will, because he began to cry and some drops of blood came from the ear.I want to know what was happened?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain there is a possibility that while cleaning the ear as your son moved there has been deeper pushing of the cotton swab inside the ear and bleeding can be due to 2 reasons:
1. It can be due to injury to the ear canal due to deeper pushing and it can lead to bleeding..
2.Other cause that can be more harmful can be injury to ear drum leading to perforation..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolaryngologist and get him evaluated and in case if there is injury to ear canal then it is not something serious and will resolve gradually on its own..
In case of perforation of ear drum antibiotics and nasal decongestants can be advised..
