What Causes Blood From Vagina Post Colonoscopy?

I had a colonoscopy this morning It was squeaky clean. Been sleeping almost all morning. when I got up to pee, I noticed there was blood from my vagina. Why? I had a hysterectomy years ago. Do you think my bladder was injured or something? Weird to me

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Bleeding from the vagina is not normal after the colonoscopy. So,I suggest to do a gynecological examination for further evaluation.

A small amount of bleeding from the anal area is normal after this procedure. So,before you go at the gynecologist you should make sure that the bleeding was from the vagina and not from the anal area.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
