What Causes Blood During Urination Post Insertion Of Mirena Coil?

I recently got Mirena inserted about 2 weeks ago and I am currently facing some side effects. It feels like when I am going pee that I have a UTI, but when I wipe there is blood. I thought I was on my period, but there is only blood after I pee. Do I need to seek medical attention immediately or is it okay to wait till my doctors office is open on Monday?

Thank you for your query

Yes please seek medical attention immediately.

There is no reason that an IUD should result in bleeding when you urinate unless it has either injured any part of you external urinary tract or migrated into your bladder.

It needs to be removed if it is in your bladder. The plan of action depends on what is wrong, where the IUD is, and if there are any complications?

You may need to be hospitalized if removal of the IUD gets complicated or until the bleeding from is well controlled.
Don't drive and take someone along with you.
