What Causes Blood And Mucus Discharge Through Rectum Post Colonoscopy?

Had a colonoscopy today. Immediately after waking I had an urgency to go but couldn t get up for 30 minutes. Once able to get up I went. It was like thick mucous and blood, or I assume mucous cause it was yellow. Did this twice before leaving. Now have done it several more times since I have been home. Even had to stop on my way and go. I had an 11 mm polyp removed and the said the Sigmund colon was inflamed and irritated so bad that touching that area made it bleed. No definite answers yet cause they took biopsies but worried about the continuous blood and mucous urgency as of now

Hello. Thanks for asking question at HCM.

As per your descuption it looks like you have left sided colitis with a 11 mm polyp - which has been removed. One of the differentials is ulcerative colitis. As they have taken biopsies I would suggest you to wait for the biopsy reports. One of the expected complications is bleeding at the site of polypectomy. So I suggest you meet your endoscopist at the earliest or call him. Till that time keep well hydrated.

Take care.
