General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I am sorry for the health problems your son is going through. Enlarged prostate in a 29 years old male is possibly due to prostatitis. Antibiotics are the medications of choice in this case. Unfortunately, their use is associated with alteration in intestinal flora, which is clinically expressed with bloating, nausea, and loss of appetite.

He does not need to stop his medications. Just follow the advice below:
• Increase fluids intake especially plain water, low fat yoghurt
• Take probiotics to stabilize intestinal flora
• Avoid foods that would aggravate the symptoms: oily/processed/coffee/alcohol, etc. This restriction will help with his prostate problems too.
•     Simethicone with Carbone for bloating

If no improvement or it will get worsen, then, stop the medications and report this side effect to his doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini
