What Causes Bleeding & Soreness At The Back Of The Throat?

hi my dad has sores on back of throat and tried to see and picked at it and it started bleeding and also has had soreness on right side of throat and noticed white bumps i believe back of throat no other symptoms such as fevers and such what could that be

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are suffering from bleeding & soreness at the back of the throat. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like strep throat , viral pharyngitis , acid reflux , throat cancer or smoking . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist for proper examination .Doctor may order CT scan , examination with laryngoscope or take sample from neck for biopsy . Doctor may prescribe antibacterial or antiviral depending upon the diagnosis along with anti inflammatory and medicine like sucralfate . Doctor may also recommend radiotherapy or refer you to endocrinologist for thyroid problem . For now avoid smoking , do warm saline gargles and eat non spicy and light food . Also take antacid after every meal .
