What Causes Bleeding Of Nose And Rectum While Taking Prednisone?
I M TAKING 40 MG OF PREDNISONE DAILY FOR ASTHMATIC BRONCHITIS AND MY GLUCOSE IS IN THE 525-575 . I ALSO HAVE BLOOD DICHARGE THROUGHT MY NOSE AS WELL AS RECTAL BLEEDING. IS THIS DUE TO THE PREDNISONE OR COULD JUST BE THE HIGH GLUCOSE. DULCE, THANKS!!
The long term consumption of Prednisolone is associated with alteration in clotting parameters with issues at liver proteins, clotting factors as well as platelets. Immediately you should stop the further dose intake of Prednisolone and consult your doctor for further guidelines of management accordingly. Applying cold water over nostril may help in some cases for better control of epistaxis episode.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
