What Causes Bleeding And Inflammation In The Gums?

Hello, asking a question for my 78 year old Dad.
For 3 months, he has been experiencing bleeding and inflamed gums, inflamed nail cuticles on 5 fingers and a blotchy rash under the skin, with no breaks through the epidermal layer of the skin.
Doctor advised him to use anti-biotic mouthwash, no improvement for 2 months.
Any ideas please, many thanks

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain bleeding and inflammation of gums can be due to deep infection in gums leading to Gingivitis and in case if there is associated loosening of teeth and bone loss then it can be due to Periodontitis..

As far as using mouthwash is concerned it will not relieve the symptoms and you need to consult a Periodontist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and if needed a full mouth x ray known as Panoromic x ray can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..

You can be advised thorough scaling and currettage followed by a course of oral antibiotics like Metronidazole and gum paint massage..
Do warm saline gargles and gargle with antiseptic mouthwash containing Lignocaine..

Hope your query is resolved..

Regards.
