What Causes Bleeding After Defecation?
Ty, I had a bad time yesterday going to loo to pass motions. I had a reversal in Dec last year and two weeks ago a hernia repair with mesh. I feel fine but spent 30 mins or so on loo yesterday. On wiping I noticed like a blood coloured mucus. A little later I passed wind and found a pinkish deposit in bowl of loo and more pinkish blood on toilet paper. I'm concerned as I'm having a colonoscopy in Aug (year after ileostomy for bowel cancer). Is it anything to be concerned about please.

Visible bleeding after defaecation can be because of haemorrhoids/anal fissure if blood is of bright colour as you described.
Haemorrhoids may or may not be associated with pain at anal region.
Anal fissures are usually associated with severe pain.
Both the conditions are caused and exaggerated by by straining during defaecation and constipation.
If I were your treating doctor,I would recommend ,
-Take stool softener liquid paraffin 3 tsps at bed time for 3 successive nights.
-Increase intake of foods like bananas,green leafy vegetables,raisins,brans like oats.Supplement it with adequate intake of water as minimum 8-10 glasses per day.
-Keep body weight within control by regular walking for atleast 30 minutes.
-Continue doing timely follow up with your doctor for bowwel cancer as it is one of the cause of constipation in your case.
