Ok, thank you!!! I just found out what the black spots in my mouth and lips and palet etc. might be and I think I need to see an endocrinologist. my dentist told me it probably is Addisons disease. I want to know how serious it can be and what is is and what questions should I ask my dr. also what medications to take to treat it and can it be helped. THANK YOU SO MUCH, PLEASE GET BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.. YYYY@YYYY
Thanks for your query. The symptoms you mention in query are indicating a condition known as oral melanotic macules. Although it is believe that they occur without any reason ,but some potential causes are excessive sun exposure and poor oral hygiene.
I would suggest you to to visit dentist/oral surgeon .Doctor may take biopsy .Usually they do not require any treatment ,unless it bothers you aesthetically .There are few treatment options available like drug therapy (dacarbazine) ,radiation therapy or surgical excision .
Hope your concern has been resolved. Get Well Soon. Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
