What Causes Black Spot Spot On One Tonsil And White On Other?
My daughter woke up this morning with a sore throat. Her tonsils look inflamed on one tonsil she has white spots and the other tonsil she has a black spot that has gotten bigger all through the day. What could be causing this and should I take her to the er tonight or wait to see her family dr tomorrow?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Read and understood your concerns. The both tonsils getting enlarged and inflamed , but the one showing black spots and the other showing the white spots indicate they are infected with the bacteria which cause such changes. The black spots can be due to hemolytic streptococci and you need to have throat swabs taken differently from both the tonsils for gram staining, culture and sensitivity. You have to see the Doctor immediately to get the throat swabs taken for testing and get started on appropriate antibiotic and anti-inflammatory medicines.
