What Causes Black Scab On A Skin Scratch?

I fell and scratched my hip against the corner of the bed rail a couple of days ago. I doubt it is rusty because it is pretty new. The scratch scabbed over with a black scab. It is slightly red about a half inch around the scratch and bruised. I am putting triple antibiotic salve on it. I am mostly concerned because it has a black scab. I have never had a spot scab over black.

Its normal. Dont worry. Blood and serum when clots and dried up it becomes like that. So dont worry and dont scratch the area anymore. It takes a few dauhs to shed off at its own. You are doing good with the treatment.
