What Causes Black Out And Seeing Flashes Of Light In The Line Of Vision?

I was lying on my couch late last night and while watching the television I saw or felt the force of a bright light seemingly in my head which caused immediate unconsciousness. I am unaware of how long the unconsciousness lasted. I awakened and noticed I could not see. After about ten minutes the blindness began to leave but I was unable to open my eyes because of the sensation of extreme bright light, though my room had no light except from the television. I refused to try standing because I felt very dizzy.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
It could have happened because of continuously watching T.V .Other causes which can cause these type of symptoms are low Haemoglobin, any mass in brain , stroke and low B.P.
I would suggest get Haemoglobin level done and check your B.P daily to rule out any of these cause.Otherwise you should visit Neurologist for further evaluation if you notice more episodes like this.

Hopefully my answer will be helpfull for you.
Regards,
Dr.Maheshwari
