What Causes Black Colored Stools?

Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here.
I was wondering if i should have concern about my stool being a dark green almost black color. It just started this morning. I don't really have any other symptoms but the only thing that i have done different is in my diet i started eating about a cup of pistachios after dinner as my late night snack.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a hemorrhage in the upper gastrointestinal tract.

I suggest you to do:
- A complete blood count
- A stool test
- An endoscopy to find the source of the hemorrhage

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi
