Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Bitter taste in mouth can be most probably due to the antibiotic that she is taking and there is a less chance that the bitter taste is due to the the ointment.
The ointment can probably cause a bitter taste if it is coming in contact with the inside of the mouth or tongue. So she should be cautious about it.
If the ointment is not coming in contact with the inside of mouth then the bitter taste is most probably due to antibiotic and as she will stop taking the antibiotic, the taste will improve.
To mask bad taste, she can chew flavoured sugarfree chewing gum and clean the tongue with a tongue cleaner. Suck lemon drops and drink plenty of water.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
