What Causes Belligerency After Double Bypass?

My brother had a double bypass on Monday. On Tuesday, he became belligerent and had to be restrained. They removed him from Xanax but now he is unresponsive to simple commands. He groans but will not open his eyes. We were told he did not have a stroke. Is this normal?

belligerency is not a natural find log after a bypass - single or double.
correctly like the doctors did he should not be on Xanax.
usually 2 common causes of this are:
1) prolonged brain hypoxia if the heart lung machine failed for sometime
2) Stroke / CVA
I feel there would been IV medications other than Xanax - like haloperidol or promethazine which have been given to silence him - this would gave added effect after a couple of doses.
ask for a neurological evaluation.
Feel free to contact fur any other assistance.
