What Causes Being Fidgety When Sitting?

I am 74 years old. For years I have been real fidgety when sitting. I will cross my legs and then them the other way. sit on my left leg then my right. I do this all of the time but never have asked my doctor. Mainly because I feel ridiculous asking him about this. What can be causing this?

Hi,

Is this associated with an urge to shake or move the legs?

Probably you are having a condition called restless leg syndrome. Treatment is not needed for mild or intermittent symptoms. If you feel bothered, kindly see and discuss with your doctor, as before proceeding to treatment, we used to rule out any causative factors like iron deficiency. Also, try to have a healthy sleeping habit and avoid smoking, alcohol and caffeinated items as far as possible, as these can add to symptoms.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
