What Causes Bald Spots All Over Head And Hair Thinning?

I have bald spots all over my head and thinning and broken off hair right on top. this suddenly started about 5 months ago. I have developed a craving to eat ice, my skin and nails are dry and I am very exhausted constantly. I have not changed anything nor have I been ill or had any surgery. I am a 61 year old female and have been pretty healthy all my life. what could be causing this sudden reaction?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hi,

According to what you mentioned, your age, menopause, nutritional deficiencies and stress may be leading causative agents. I request you to check for iron deficiency and take nutritional supplements for iron, B12, folic acid and natural protein (no protein powders, also avoid proteins if uric acid is high or in case of known kidney diseases). Avoid stress (do yoga and meditation). If the problem persist even after 3 months following above regime, i request you to see a dermatologist.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nirali Thakkar, Pathologist and Microbiologist
