What Causes Bad Odor In The Anal Region?

my adult son has problems with swass. very smelling bum. it doesn t smell like stool, just extremely sour, sweaty bum. it leaves behind a stench on the seats he sits on. he assures me he wipes clean and scrubs clean when showering. his clothes are clean as well. is there such a thing as over secreting sweat glands in that area? is there a medicated powder to use or just suggest trying powder to absorb some of the moisture/smell?

Hello,

Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic!

Dear the groin is usually covered most if not all of the day in the majority of cultures across the globe. It probably covered more tightly than other parts of the body so that the genitals are not visible. As a results this increases the build up of heat in the area. This in turn contributes to sweat production. The hair in the area also contribute to the odor due to poor ventilation preventing the oil and sweat from evaporating. Bacteria and fungi are more likely to thrive in this warm, dark and moist environment.

How to treat it:

1.Bathe at least twice daily and use an antibacterial soap especially in the groin region.
2.Wash thoroughly between the folds of skin. Do not scrub the area too hard to breaks in the skin can lead to infections.
3.Ensure that the skin on genitals are thoroughly wiped after urinating. Never attempt to insert toilet paper into any cavity as a means of cleaning the area.
4.The anus should be thoroughly cleaned after defecating and if a bidet is available it should be used. Alternatively wet and then dry toilet paper will suffice.
5.Try to use clothing and underwear made of lighter textiles that will allow for ventilation.
This does not mean that the garments have to be see-through. Some textiles contribute to the heat build up in the groin region.
If not relieved please consult your dermatologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Take care!
