What Causes Bacterial Colitis And How To Cure It?

MY HUSBAND WHO IS 55 YEARS OLD HAS SUFFERED FROM C DC CHOLITIS? I DON'T KNOW IF I AM PRONOUNCING THIS CORRECTLY BUT HE EXPLAINED IT IS SERIOUS, IT IS A BACTERIAL CHOLITIS AND INVOVLES SPORES. HE IS TAKING SOME SORT OF MEDICATION FOR THIS BUT HAS LOST A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF WEIGHT AND STILL DOES NOT FEEL HIMSELF. HE ALSO INDICATED TO ME THAT HE COULD HAVE ANOTHER FLARE-UP BECAUSE THE SPORES ARE IN HIS SYSTEM. PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME ABOUT THIS AND CAN IT BE CURED, IS IT CONTAGIOUS, WHAT MEDICINES WOULD WORK BEST OR ALTERNATIVE METHODS AND WHAT IS THE PROGNOSIS. THANKYOU, dH

From the problems listed in your question the exact symptoms & signs are not mentioned. However based on the information given like colitis, spores, significant weight loss etc the condition may be due to ulcerative colitis. Ulcerative colitis is an auto-immune disorder due to production antibodies against own's cells in this case the lining epithelium of colon (the large intestine). He must consult a gastroenterologist for a proper workup like investigations, management and followup.
