Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Your symptoms indicate a renal disorder/
urinary tract infection.
I recommend :
-a physician consult
- an
ultrasound abdomen to check for renal system abnormalities (like enlargement of
kidney, obstruction of urine)
- urine analysis to check for infection, protein loss
-blood tests to check for liver and kidney function.
- an
echocardiogram and an electrocardiogram to check for heart function.
Water retention could be due to a number of reasons, most commonly due to heart & kidney disorders.
After a clinical examination & based on the results of the above tests, other causes like
hormonal imbalances should also be ruled out.
Please see a doctor at the earliest to rule out potentially life threatening diseases, especially so as this has occurred suddenly.
In the meantime -
- avoid strain
- restrict water intake to 2litres a day till you see your doctor
If you develop any breathing difficulty, or your urine quantity reduces or your face becomes puffy (water retention), please visit the ER right away.
Hope this helps,
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health
