What Causes Auditory Processing Disorder In A Person With Supra Ventricular Tachycardia?

My son had surgery for his Supra Ventricluar Tachycardia and it seems now he has trouble with thought processing. Could this caused by his heart rate racing so many times? A few times after he could not remember things after his heart rate went down. Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* The thought process related issue sounds to be in concern with possible ischemia in memory processing area or hippocampus of the brain due to underlying atherosclerosis or others.

* The supraventricular tachycardia is not directly associated with the disorder of auditory processing.

However, a clinical examination with

- audiometry

- Weber and Rinne test

- with or without MRI brain are mandatory to co relate the underlying cause and manage accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
