What Causes Appetite Loss Along With Pain In The Sternum?

I have had a complete lack of appetite for 12-13 yrs with dull abdominal pain & dull pain slightly lower than the sturnum, strong pain towards the rt of it. Lost 97 lbs in one yr. I was 289 before the weight loss. They eventually removed my gallbladder. I was shocked to actually feel hungry twice. But all the dull pain & lack of appetite has remained all these yrs. Unfortunately I eat out of habit, boredom & a craving for sugar. My wt varies from 187-220. GI dr has done a number of tests. Only thing found were some polyps about 8 yrs ago. At the time I was told they were benign. When I returned after 8 yrs with same problem plus nausea & vomiting he said they were pre-cancer & he would not give me anything for the nausea & vomiting until I had another colonoscopy & endoscopy which is now done in a room in his office jammed with 5 patients that the literature says he & his partners own. The first appt open is almost 2 mos away. With no relief for me in the mintime. Months later(had to cancel 1st tests, waiting again). I now vomit about 3 times a wk at home & when I attempt to shop it s a race to the car before I vomit. I have about a literal 1 min of nausea before vomiting. Tonight I realized it happens at home only when I m laying on my back & my neck is turned to the left to watch tv. When I shop I must lean over the cart to relieve the pain from spinal stenosis & my neck & head are turned up & to the side. I also have degenerative disc disease & arthritis in the spine. Arthritis was diagnosed when I was 28. I m now 65. 45 yrs ago my ex husband chipped a bone in my neck. They never found where the chip ended up. Can you PLEASE tell me what is going on with me?! Is it possible that the chip or the chipped bone is causing the problems or is that just silly? Sorry this is so long! Thank you for any help that you are able to offer me. After sending this in I realized I must pay for an answer. I am disabled with a total income of just a few dollars over $900. That includes the $20 I get from S.S. That makes it impossible for me to afford a fee. Sorry to have wasted your time.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I have read your query here.
The chronic vomiting must have a definite underlying cause as biliary tract problem, intestine, liver, diaphragm or other GI abnormalities.
I would recommend to take a prescription of CT scan abdomen & pelvis with thorough endoscopy with an expert gastroenterologist.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
