What Causes Ankle Pain After Taking Cortisone Shot While Suffering From Tendonitis?
Hi I have had a cortisone shot about a month ago in my ankle and for a wile I felt a little better pain wise but now I find that every morning the pain comes back and it takes a wile before I can walk probably again.......I was diagnosed with tendernitis and gout.....
Hello... Your ankle pain initially subsided due to the cortisone injection. However the effect lasts only for a brief period till the drug wears off or is eliminated from the body and that is why the pain is back now. If you have been diagnosed with gout it is important that you are on medication to reduce your uric acid levels which go up in gout and cause the associated pain and swelling. I commonly use drugs such a allopurinol or febuxostat for my patients with gout. They are prescription pills and it is better that you consult your doctor before starting any of them. I would also advise you to cut down on intake of red meat, organ meat ( liver, kidney) and alcohol if you are consuming any of the above.
