I have been diagnosed with anemia. my ferritin level is 6. I ve been on poly iron for 3 months and barely raised the level. there no blood in stool or urine...I hAD it checked. my joints are so sore. it hurts to lift my coffee cup. I was itching all over but the poly iron seems to help. I am so tired but I still try to walk 3 miles a day. they want me to have a colonoscopy and go to a hematologist

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

First of all you need iron treatment for more than three months to increase haemoglobin levels and ferritin levels too. This treatment will improve the overall fatigue and tiredness.

Then after treatment of anaemia, you can do further examinations to check for arthritis since you are having joint pain. Doing an ERS is advisable and also doing anti-ANA antibodies.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
