What Causes An Itchy Red Spot With A White Ring On Cheek?
My 5 year old had a small red spot on his cheek about a half inch in diameter. Yesterday I noticed it had a small white ring around it, maybe a quarter inch wide. Today, the white ring is a half inch wide. The red spot is slightly itchy. He doesn t remember being bitten by a bug, but it seems to be a bug bite. Could it be anything else? Should I treat this and if so, How?
Itchy red spot over cheek with a white ring can be a bug bite and it is not necessarily be noticed as it can happen while sleeping also.. It can also be an eczematous lesion or allergic reaction.. It can also be due to bacterial infection . I would suggest you to apply a Steroid ointment over it and also do cool compresses over it.. You can also give anti allergics like Benadryl in case if there is itching.. Avoiding scratching their lesion to itch can help in prevention the spread of infection as well as increased inflammation.. In case of no improvement in a week or if symptoms worsen consult a Dermatologist and get evaluated..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
