if redness is also there then it could be trivial trauma to eye.
it is utter neccessary to have a thorough eye examination
you can safely use eye ointment tobramycin 2 times a day till you meet ophthalmologist
it could also be naso lacrimal duct obstruction or infection in eye which can only be rule out after examination in case of such a young infant
