What Causes An Enlarged Heart?

Hello, My name is Debbie Feighner, and bI recently had va act scan with Contrast. The report said there is Cardiomegaly. I am almost 59 years old, have only one working vocal cord and sometimes I am on oxygen at home. I m about 5 1 tall and weigh about 127lbs. I ve Never Smoked, but I do have Epilepsy, now for over 40 years. Is this heart enlargement something not be concerned about? Thank You Debbie/Fort Wayne,IN.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear Debbie,
Cardiomegaly is the enlargement of the heart which usually occurs because of untreated hypertension resulting in heart failure. If you have pedal edema and reduced urine output and ascites, i recommend you to immediately seek a cardiologist opinion for redressal of your complaints.
Hope this helps.
