Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi im 46 yrs of age im trying to conceive, I just found out that I have adenomyosis, endometrium is 12.9 mm I still have eggs not many can that be from the adenomyosis not producing enough. I know age has a little factor on that but I know you can still get pregnant being my age naturally.
Adenomyosis is a benign condition of the womb (not cancer) which is due to the cells of the inner layer of the womb going deeper into the muscular layer and causing the womb to be large, painful and cause bleeding. It does not generally affect the ovulation unless cells of the inner layer of the womb migrate to the ovaries or the areas around (also called endometriosis).
Unfortunately, there is no specific treatment for adenomyosis. As for pregnancy, it is true that patients may conceive even though in their 40ies but this chance gradually decreases and is much less than in women 35 years and younger. Unfortunately, adenomyosis may make conception even more difficult.
I hope this gives some answers to your query. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
