My 15 yr old son noticed a swelling in one of his two testicals. We took him to our PEDS DOC who examined it and concluded it is aquired hydrocele. He recco was to ge to a urologist in the next week to get it examined and a treatment assigned. We will start that MON but we wanted to read more on cause and urgency. Or other considerations. Can you suugest lins or sites to do more research? Or do you have other suggestions for treatment? THXS. Jim
Hello Thanks for query. The hydrocele is a collection of fluid between two layers of Tunica Vaginalis the thin sheath that covers testicle .
Th cause of Hydrocele is mainly due to either bacterial or Filarial infection resulting in accumulation of fluid between these two layers due to imbalance of secretion of a fluid by inner layer and absorption of the same fluid by outer layer
Surgery is the only treatment option which involves removing part of inner layer of Tunica vaginalis .The surgery is very simple and offers permanent cure. Thanks Dr.Patil.
