What Causes Acidity In The Lower Abdomen?

Hello! I have been having some GI issues that appeared to be related to a possible wheat allergy. I went to an allergist and am going to get tested. But in recent days I m wondering if maybe it s actually due to low stomach acid? I have actually been craving acidic foods a lot more than normal. I can eat more acidic foods, but am concerned what would cause low stomach acid? Wondering if I have to worry about an underlying cause.
