What Causes Achy Arms After Removing Nexplanon?

Hello I had my nexplanon taken out last week Wednesday I ve just checked my arm to feel around the area the implant was and I can still feel a hard rod feeling in the area I m not too sure if it still healing or if the nurse didn t take the implant out properly. I am really worried. My arm feels achy and I feel I can t rest on my elbow properly. The hard rod feeling Doesn t feel as hard as the actual implant. But I definitely feels like a hard rod feeling. My breasts are really sore still as well. I m not sure if this is the recovery period. Thank you. Please what are your thoughts doctor.

Hi,

Slight induration and pain are common after implant removal and it will settle by itself.

As of now, you can take analgesics like Acetaminophen or Tramadol for pain relief.

If you still feel the induration, better to consult a gynecologist and confirm why it is removed properly or not.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
