What Causes Abnormality In Bowel Movement?

Yes I would like to know what is going on with me. I have noticed a change in my bowel movements for the last 6 months. My stools are very soft and they don t always come out all of the time. It may take me 3 to 4 times before it feels like I am finished. Then I still have air escaping afterwards. I also have hemmoroids. I am a 60 year old female. I have a colonoscopy done every 5 years. The last one my doctor told me I have a hiatal hernia also. I have also had polyps which the doctor has removed during my colonoscopy. But I m concerned about my bowel movements. I am supposed to see my gasterogolist (sp) at the end of this month. Thank you.

Gastroenterologist 's  Response
Good morning
I am sorry to hear about your ill health
Your complaints very much sound like irritable bowel syndrome.
But before diagnosing you so, I would like to see your stool analysis reports including occult blood test and calprotectin (stool marker for inflammation)
Some polyps tend to recur, surveillance colonoscopy is needed for you at regular intervals.
So if you are due for your colonoscopy now you should ask your gastroenterologist for colonic and ileal intestinal biopsies to look for any microscopic inflammation that can cause you diarrhea in rare cases
Hope this would answer your question
I would like to answer your future queries is any
Wish you a speedy recovery
