General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The first thing to rule out when periods are not as usual is pregnancy. Please have a pregnancy test to make sure if you are pregnant or not. If the pregnancy test is negative then you will need to see a doctor and have a pap smear, transvaginal ultrasound and if the doctor suspects sexually transmitted disease he might order cervical sample for chlamydia and gonorrhea as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
