What Causes Abnormal Changes In EKG?

I have hypothyroid am 78 years old just had an EKG done and notice a change from 2009 EKG my internist said electrical changes and refered me to a cardiologist, I do not have any symptoms such as chest pain or trouble breathing, just wondering what it means

Hi,

Considering your chronic disease of hypothyroidism ECG changes associated with it are st depression and QT prolongation. I believe that your physician sent you to cardiologist just to rule out if there are no serious issues. he might advise you cardiac markers and echocardiography. It's better you do it, considering your age. If you have been taking thyroxin as treatment, its levels should also be monitored and TSH levels did. High thyroxin can also adversely affect the heart. Overall, it's better you have an appointment with a proper cardiologist.
