So I noticed about a year ago that I have a strange bone formation under my left breast on my rib cage and sternum. It it s the length of my palm and a noticeable thickness. I m a 19 year old fit female, but have occasional chest pains. Is this something I should see my regular physician about or a specialist or should I not be worried about it at all?
Dear patient Considering your symptoms you are having benign hone tumour mostly osteochondroma. It is like bony swelling and is for long duration. It does not harm your body but there are 1% chance of turning malignant. So you need to be investigated with Xray of chest and CT scan of thorax and rib cage to determine exact location , nature and size of swelling which helps in planning treatment. Please do not hesitate and take a visit to expert orthopaedic surgeon with report. All the best.
