What Causes Abdominal Pain, Weight Loss And Diarrhea?

a 71 year old man presents with abdominal pain,and sudden weight loss.H e also reports bllod in his bowel movement and diarhea. His vital signs are BP 100/60 PULSE 95, SpO2 87 respiration 28 and labored, he has prior history of pulmonary fibrosis. what test would you order? what do you suspect? what would be the patient s prognosis?

@ Indicates definite underlying inflammation of the intestine which may be
inflammatory bowel disease , tumors of the colon or other infective
pathology .

@ Recommendations - complete blood counts with ESR - ultrasound of
abdomen , pelvis - Diagnostic colonoscopy .

@ Prognosis comes into consideration once the diagnosis is confirmed .
