What Causes Abdominal Pain After Stopping Alcohol Intake?

I stopped drinking for a period of a month and about 2-1/2 weeks in I started to get a pain in the abdomen on the right side just under the first rib. I was able to remedy it by drinking fluids and that seemed to help and make it go away. I noticed it more when I had an empty stomach. Since then I have been drinking again, as I stopped for a month to cleanse my body and loose some weight, but haven t had that pain. Do you think the pain came from not having alcohol?

Hi,
Thanks for posting in healthcare magic.
I am Dr.Siva and I am pleased to assist you.

You did not get the abdominal pain from not having alcohol.
It was due to gastritis as evident by increased pain when you had empty stomach and relief by drinking fluids.
In these circumstances you will get relief with omeprazole.
Regards.
