In order to help you out further i will need more information about your sister in law's health like she when is she having this complain?Any complain of constipation, blood in urine or stool, fever, weight loss and vaginal bleeding ?any complaint of weight of loss or loss of appetite?
Get her investigated to find out the cause of her pain like ultrasound or CT/MRI. Simple painkiller like ibuprofen will help and not addictive.
