What Causes Abdominal Cramps While On An IUD?

Hi, so I have had an IUD implant for almost 3 years, and have had my period regularly since insertion. Today I have had minor cramping and clotting. I finished my period about a week and a bit ago and was wondering why I would be getting cramping and clotting if I m not on my cycle...

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
IUD patients are more prone for vaginal infections.
So we should definitely rule out vaginal infection for your symptoms (lower abdominal cramps and clotting).
So consult gynecologist and get done clinical examination of vagina.
You are may need to change your IUD and insert new one.
Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep yourself hydrated. Avoid moisture and perspiration in private parts. Keep proper hygiene of private parts. Don't worry, you will be alright.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
