What Causes Abdominal Cramps And Excess Menstrual Bleeding After Skipping A Cycle?

My girlfriend missed her period and was a month late. She had abnormal food cravings, cramps without bleeding, tired easily, tender breasts, basically all of the classic early warning signs of pregnancy. She took two at home tests and both tests came back negative. Now she is in extreme pain by cramps that are severe and have never been so harsh and she is bleeding. She has not been able to get out of her bed for two days and needs help to go to the restroom or do anything. Her mom thinks it is just because she missed a month but she said that she has missed before and it has never been this bad. What should we do? What is wrong?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi
Thank you for contacting healthcare magic.
With the above mentioned symptoms, I would advise her to go for ultrasound pelvis to rule out local pathology & follow-up with report to the gynaecologist. Meanwhile, she can take tablet mefenamic acid 400mg twice daily.
I find this answer helpful
