What Causes Abdominal Bloating And Pain And Abnormal Bowel Movements?
Hi, I have a lot of abdominal bloating and pain in the lower area of my stomach. My stool pattern keeps changing from constipation to diarrhea. This has been going on for at least a year and is progressively getting worse. I tried lactose free diet, low fodmap diet. Nothing seems to work. I was referred to get ovary ultrasound but I did not end up doing it because when I got my appendix removed the doctor said my ovaries look good. Does it mean I dont have to get the ultrasound? I also get a rash when I eat certain foods.
Thanks for your query. Noted your history of alternating diarrhea and constipation, itching on eating certain foods, no benefit on changing diet or stopping a particuler thing, appendectomy. There is no role of ovaries in such prpblems, hence if nothing relared to ovary no need of ultrasound for ovary, but doing this can help to see if there is any problem in other organs. I would advise you yhe following: Get tests of stool for 3 consecutive days. Tests of blood and stool. CT scan of the abdomeb. Colonoscopy. All these tests along with clinical evaluation will help to get a proper diagnosis. If all the tests are normal this may ne IBS. If some specific problem is found, it can be treated accordingly.
