What Causes Abdominal Bloating And Blood In Stool?

Male-65 years old. I have a bloated stomach & it seems the smallest thing I eat or drink creates more bloating & more discomfort. This morning I had a hard bowl movement and there was some blood. Not just spots but it seemed to me a lot. I have been feeling stomach discomfort for a few weeks. Note that I also have a mesh screen for a hernia which has never given me any problems and 4 years ago the colonostopy showed nothing wrong. My wife is also having the same stomach problems. Wondering if it is a coincidence or since we are both having problems--food related. ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello. I think you have gastrits, acid peptic disease and peptic ulcer. You need to consult a gastro-enterologist and undergo endosopy. Apart from that you need to follow some lifestyle tips

1. Do not eat spicy food
2. Take medications for gastritis- pantop/omez/rantac
3. Take little food at frequent intervals. Breakfast around 8am, small snack at 11am, lunch at 1pm, small snack at 4pm and dinner at 8pm
4. Drink plenty of water
5. Do not smoke, take alcohol or tobacco and even excess of coffee and tea
6. Do not take much of stress. Stress aggravates gastritis
7. Do regular exercise. Atleast half an hour per day
8. Learn meditation techniques
9. Follow this regularly for 21 days. It is said that anything you practice regularly for 21 days becomes a habit
