What Causes Abdominal And Lower Back Pain After Taking Acyclovir?

I was diagnosed with shingles about 4 days ago. I was put on acyclovir 800mg 5 times a day. I have now started experiencing abdominal pain, lower back pain similar to kidney infection pain (severe at times), cloudy/dark urine, & pain upon voiding. I have also been feeling more worn out than before I was even diagnosed.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I don't believe that this situation can be related to shingles. The pain and difficulty urinating together with dark and cloudy urine may be related to kidney infection and stones. Do an uroculture and an kidney ultrasound. Kidney stones are also possible.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
