What Causes Abdominal And Back Pain After Taking Prilosec For Acid Reflux?

I recently started taking prilosec for serious acid reflux, and shortly thereafter the right side of my abdomen began hurting. This shifted to my lower middle back. I stopped taking the prilosec, and things seem to be getting slowly better. Is there much correlation between kidneyish pain and prilosec?

hi, Prilosec, a strong antacid can reduce acid levels in your stomach to zero, which permits infection to settle down causing aggravation of symptoms. this though unusual, is the reason why some people experience aggravation of symptoms with Prilosec. I would recommend you to undergo H.Pylori testing. if you test positive, anti bacterial drug regimen would certainly help. consulting a gastroenterologist could help you with this. all the best.
