Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

It may happen that the temperature may be a bit resistant to the medications the first 2 days. To help for better control of temperature you can give motrin (ibuprofen) but also paracetamol both of them at the same time or every 3 hours one of them (keep record to not confuse which you gave last). You give motrin at 1 pm, than paracetamol at 4 pm then montrin at 7 pm then paracetamol at 10 pm and so on.
Make sure he has the correct dose of each of them, calculated by the weight.
Baths reduce fever but if with cold water is used it can make fever come back soon due to shivering so it is advisable to start with normal temperature water you bath the child and gradually every 3 minutes take off a bowl of warm water and add a bowl of cold water so to gradually reduce the temperature and not cause the child to shiver.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
If your child is not drinking at all or is not reacting as normally you will need to see a doctor soon to make sure he is doing well.

Kind regards,
Antoneta Zotaj, MD
