What Causes A Strong Salt Smell In Urine?

`Hi, my urine smells extremely salty. That is the only way I can describe it, it doesn t smell of ham or fish etc , just salty. This has been occurring for the last 2 weeks, every time I go . I am 48 years old, 5ft 9 and 12.5 stones, and in good health.

I understand your concern.
Change of urine smell could possibly indicate infection. Hence, it would be better to get a urine routine examination done.
In case it indicates the presence of pus cells and/or bacteria, it needs to be further investigated by means of urine culture and sensitivity to know the nature of organism causing infection. It needs to be treated by administration of a course of appropriate antibiotics.
In case the urine routine report is normal, you can overcome your problem by drinking good quantity of water and citrus fruit juices.
